Jamie Tainton

Jamie Tainton is the Founder, Managing Director and Principal Engineer at Water Studio, with over 20 years’ experience as a civil and environmental drainage engineer. She has worked across the full public and private project lifecycle, from strategy and feasibility through to detailed design, construction and superintending, and is well regarded for her practical, industry‑focused approach to urban drainage.

Jamie has held several senior leadership roles within the stormwater and development sector, including Past President of Stormwater Victoria. She is the current Vice President of the Association of Land Development Engineers (ALDE), A Fellow of Engineers Australia, a Chartered Professional Engineer, and is registered on both the National Engineers Register and the Victorian Professional Engineers Register.

She currently provides technical advice and strategic input across a range of industry panels, including Melbourne Water’s Urban Planning and Development Strategic Group, the Technical Advisory Panel, and the Waterway and Drainage Principles Review Group, contributing to the ongoing revision of Melbourne Water’s Drainage Schemes.

Jamie is also a founding member of the Victorian Urban Drainage Manual Development team, which is being prepared with funding from DEECA and support from key industry bodies. Her presentation at IPWEA PWC will focus on the intent, development and practical application of the VUDM, and what it means for practitioners, assessors and asset owners across Victoria.
