IPWEA (Vic) Engineering Excellence Awards 2023

NOMINATION FOR THE 2023 AWARDS PROGRAM CLOSED FRIDAY 10TH MARCH

The IPWEA Engineering Excellence Awards recognise people making significant contributions to the Victorian public works sector and the projects they have delivered for their communities.

Participation in the Awards program provides an opportunity for your team, your project and your organisation to be acknowledged for their work and for the winners to be featured in a range of local and national publications. Our Awards will be presented on Thursday 18th May 2023 during the Gala Dinner of our Public Works Conference SEE23.

In 2023, our Conference program will align with our Awards program for the first time, so delegates get greater insight into public works engineering achievements.

As such, we are only taking standalone Award Nominations for the Emerging Public Works Leadership Award and Public Works Leadership Award. The winners of the other awards categories will be selected from presentation abstracts that have been accepted into the program.

Award nominations VIA THE awards submission portal:

1. Emerging Public Works Leadership Award

This Award recognises an outstanding achievement in public works engineering by an individual aged under 35 at the time of nomination

2. Public Works Leadership Award

This Award recognises outstanding individual achievement in public works engineering.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nominations must be received by Friday 10th March 2023 via the awards submission portal.

  • Submissions must include the following information:

    • a 50-100 word Executive Summary (for publication)

    • a 400-500 word Nomination Overview (for judging) addressing nominee skills, experience, achievement/s and community contribution

    • a high-resolution photograph suitable for publication

  • Submissions must highlight the role played by the nominee or project team and identify the role/s played by external consultants and/or contractors.

  • At least one representative from each nomination is expected to attend the Conference dinner.

Submission Process

  • Have your Executive Summary, Nomination Overview and Photograph ready to upload

  • Head to the submission portal and select “Submit an Award Nomination”

  • Select the Award you would like to nominate for: Emerging Public Works Leadership Award or Public Works Leadership Award (choose 1)

  • Upload the required documents

AwardS SELECTED FROM ACCEPTED PRESENTATION ABSTRACTS

To enter your project into one of the below awards categories, please submit your presentation abstract via the abstract submission portal before Friday 10th March 2023. Every accepted abstract will be offered an oral presentation slot during the conference, and have the option to enter their project in the Engineering Excellence Awards Program. No standalone nominations are accepted without abstract submission.

1. Excellence in Public Works Project

This Award recognises excellence in the design and/or construction of a significant public works infrastructure project that demonstrably benefits the community.

2. Excellence in Innovation

This Award recognises excellence in the implementation of ideas that can be considered exceptional by traditional standards.

3. Excellence in Asset Management

This Award recognises excellence in the practice of asset management and the pursuit of a whole-of-life perspective.

4. Excellence in Environmental Sustainability

This Award recognises excellence in environmentally sustainable design and the development or adoption of new or improved techniques.
